Master Bedroom Reveal 2: Low Maintenance Global
Good morning! Thanks for stopping by! On to Look 2 of our bedroom styling challenge. When last we met, we were discussing how this:
could become this for about $100:
That was fun. But the quest continues. Today's look: a relaxed take on "global" with some blue to cool things down:
I put this together expecting not to like it very much – maybe too boring? Too stock from Target? But actually, I did like it. Once it all came together, it seemed intentional, but not like I was trying too hard. Well, except for the artfully draped color-coordinating jewelry dripping out of the egg crate. What, does that not happen effortlessly in your room?
So here’s the breakdown:
1. Dresser Styling: Art, some books, a plant and a bowl, all borrowed from the family room. Cost $0.
2. Curtains: Tahari, from Marshall's, $30 for 2. (So $60 if you do two panels per window, which I did not do in our last styling but definitely prefer).
3. Poufs from Target: $13/each.
4. Dresser #2 Styling: Art, plant and books all borrowed from the rest of the house. Cost: $0.
5. Art: Wrapping paper sheet from Kate's Paperie, on clearance for $9. You could frame this for sure, but I was surprised by how much I liked it just casually taped up there.
6. Headboard Styling: Blue bird, books (including obligatory Young House Love book), egg crate and color-coordinating jewelry: All stuff I had. Cost $0.
7. Throw pillow from Target: $24.
8. Duvet set from Goodwill (originally Target) $15.
9. Ombre throw. I admit, it's overkill. I was just trying to bring in more blue. Anyway, it's a curtain panel from Target via Goodwill for $7.
So total cost to me for this version of the room: $141. Not too bad. What I do like about this room is that it looks easy to put together and maintain - no dozen throw pillows to wrangle every morning - but still looks nice. And the art helps bring it out of the Target aisle and give it more depth.
So what do you think? Do you prefer Vision 1 (Black, White & Red All Over) or 2 (Low-Maintenance Global) better so far? Are you on the edge of your seat for the next styling? Hope so, cause it's coming up on Friday. In the meantime, check back for What's for Dinner, a look at Lou's room progress and a low-cost art project. Thanks for stopping by!
And update: I mentioned in our closet organization post that you can order online from Target and select ship to store to save money where store prices are higher. My super-savvy cousin-in-law informs me that you don't even have to order ahead of time to get online prices in-store at Target; you can just take your items to customer service and they'll adjust. Also, when I wrote super-savvy the first time, I wrote super-savving. I think I just created an Oprah-ism! It works, right?
