A Day in the Life: I'm With Her Edition

Hey y'all! So, I know everyone may have different feelings about Secretary Clinton securing the democratic nomination, and this isn't about proselytizing for her (though I am happy to do that in the appropriate context, like, you know, Facebook), but I wanted to share our incredible experience seeing Clinton last night at the Navy Yard in Brooklyn.

So, at 4 pm, Louisa and I took a subway to an Uber (pool -- huge mistake!), to a line for a shuttle, to a security line along the water, to a greenhouse, where we waited, for four more hours, for Sec. Clinton to speak.

Bret followed us after waiting for our sitter for West at home. He was only a few minutes away when Lou and I had the opportunity to jump on a shuttle and head over to the venue; I essentially left him, running behind the bus, because I was like, we're getting in! Hope to smell ya later, Bret!

He caught up to us while waiting for security at the venue itself. (In my defense: Lou and I had waited in line for hours at a town hall in strangely freezing April, and not been able to get in because it was full; we had also trekked across town for another rally during dinner and stopped short of going to the rally when a series of events interfered, so I was pretty committed this time. Oh yeah, and the history-being-made part made me a little zealous, too).

Ah-mazing

Worth it.

Can you spot us? Hint: We're looking at the History sign.

What a crowd, and what a night. I cried. A fair amount. Lou stayed up....all the way until five minutes before Hillary actually arrived.

Going, going....

Gone.

Sleep tight, baby.

We tried to wake her up when Hillary came, but she just kept sleeping on Bret's shoulder. Bill Clinton saw her and gave Bret a thumbs up. So I guess that was worth it? There was also one crazy sideshow when Bret joked that Trump should drop out while we were all watching returns on a big screen, and a campaign volunteer misheard him and thought he was a mole for the Trump campaign. We were all (the peeps around us having become our family at this point, several hours in) so confused as to what was happening while the guy was threatening to kick Bret/us out, and when we finally figured it out, I was SO INSULTED that he would think that. So, that happened.

Worth it. Such an incredible night. So much energy and emotion and unity in that crowd, and something that, though she fell asleep at the end, I think my little girl will remember for the rest of her life. I know I will. I'm sort of in a daze today, wandering around like you do after a major holiday or something. So this is all I could muster to post, but I hope everyone is well. That's it! Hope to see you tomorrow!
