Whelp, it's week three, smack dab in the middle of the One Room Challenge. And, as so often happens when you're right in the middle of a project, things ain't pretty.
What, you may well be asking, is even happening here? Good question! I'm in the middle of repairing and rehabbing the dresser in Lou's room. It's a hot mess. Wood glue, clamps, binder clips and children's books in a pinch. This is how the pros do it, people.
I feel pretty good about it though. I've repaired some of the big problems, removed the horrid cup pulls, spackled over the old handle pull holes and drilled new ones, and primed it. I have high hopes!
In the meantime, there are a couple pretty things to share with you! One is the world's easiest and prettiest DIY project: I hot glued these paper flowers onto thumb tacks. They'll hold Lou's art and special papers on her bulletin board above her desk.
I also made this. Ha! Just kidding. But I am feeling miiiiighy inspired by it. After being introduced to Ro Sham Beaux by another One Room Challenge participant (I'm sorry - I can't find a link just now), I fell in love with their stunning light fixtures. I particularly love this Malibu fixture, in the teal jade, with the brass fixtures. Those specifications would run be about $4,500. So I'm looking into other options.
These beads are pretty, right? I mean, they're no teal jade, or any jade, but they're nice! And at about $7.50 per 100 beads, I think I could do the whole thing for about $40. I already have a base to work from, since I pulled the ugly yellow shade off the chandelier that was in here.
Can you picture it all beaded up? It'll practically be a $4,500 masterpiece. So, those are the things I plan to be back with next week, along with a new headboard idea I cooked up this morning (gotta stay on your toes around here, folks!) and some desk changes. Thanks for checking in on where we are, and we'll see you back in this room for week 4!
