Thank heavens I live in the 21st Century United States, where the following might be considered a viable skill set:
- I’m thrifty - but love a good challenge. I’ve never met a dusty Goodwill bin/Marshall’s Clearance Rack/street side heap of which I didn’t want to plumb the depths, and I’m rarely unrewarded for my perseverance.
- I'm willing/able to put in the leg work to source things you need at the right price point.
- I know a diamond in the rough when I see one – and exactly how to restore that bad boy to brilliance.
- I enjoy working with what we’ve got. I try to live with what I have, and I like helping others do the same. In fact, I think rooms that make the most of and build upon what you’ve got have the most character in the end.
- That said, I know where to invest: in items that will improve your quality of life. If having your things off the floor on pretty hooks matters, or the right kitchen island is the right kitchen island, I know when to go for it, and adjust the rest of the budget accordingly.
Okay, so are those skills? I don’t know, but I do know that I’ve helped many a person shop, and have been praised for/accused of having an eye for what’s out there. If you want a shopping buddy, to refresh your house or even your wardrobe, I may be your girl. If nothing else, I’m honest. Heck, you may even want to take me wedding dress shopping. Interested?
