Hi! Happy Friday. Hope everyone's well. This post is a bit overdue; I installed this pegboard in our entryway many moons ago, which I detailed in this ode to entryway functionality. But, as we've begun the baby prep overhaul, I never got around to sharing it. Let's take a gander at this very small but super functional system, shall we?
Pegboard is all the rage these days, and it's not too hard to figure out why. It's pretty cheap, endlessly customizable, and makes use of the valuable wall real estate upon which small space dwellers in particular depend. I picked up these sheets of black plastic pegboard and coordinating baskets from Amazon. Later, I supplemented with a mega supply of black plastic hooks.
The boards can be hung horizontally or vertically, and vertically worked perfectly for our small entry way. This is the wall you face as you enter our apartment and it's the very first thing you see.
This little spot is just amazingly functional. It holds almost everything we need to get out the door, except coats and shoes. And all in a seriously convenient way: coming in and having a hook, literally in front of my face, on which to place my keys, is a pretty awesome thing.
Or, was. Regular readers may be scratching their heads and wondering what happened to this system:
So what's the deal? Well, we were using the pegboard system, and totally loving it. But putting the back-of-the-door organizer up (read all about it here) allowed us to move all the stuff (plus gloves and hats!) behind closed doors while still keeping things accessible. I have to admit that I like having things that I can close away. You know, for the very rare occasions when they're not in blog-styled neat and tidy mode. Plus, the switch frees up the pegboard for its new home, which I believe will be above baby's changing station to hold all the accoutrements one requires to swap diapers on a babe. You'll have to stay tuned for that; I think it'll be fun to contrast the uses of this little system. That's the kind of thing I'm into, I guess.
I hope your weekend is amazing. The east coast is expecting some seriously warm weather tomorrow and we can't wait for it. Hope you make the most of it, and we'll see you Monday.
