Hello and welcome to the week! I didn't intend to do another bedroom check-in today, as the remaining things on my list, mostly around new hardware and a closet organization for the ages, aren't complete yet. The hardware needs to be sprayed, and the ten day forecast says hahahaha to my plans to get outside and do that, so it'll be a while. I was happy just chilling with the bedroom as it was, including with the bedding, which as of Thursday looked like this:
I had found the fabric remnant at the foot of the bed at my local thrift store, and I love it! So though I thought this might be a work in progress still, I was, as I say, chilling while working on other projects, with plans to revisit the whole room one I'd finished checking off my list.
But then. I was walking down the street past the same thrift store and this gold-embroidered tapestry caught my eye. I mean. It has gold elephants on it. I had had no plans to introduce elephants, in any hue, in our room, but when I saw it I was like gimme that. This particular thrift store has a habit of setting prices pretty high, so when I went in to inquire as to the cost, I expected to walk out empty-handed. But you guys. It was $22. It's pristine and lovely and who doesn't want sequins on their beds?!?
So home she came with me. I layered it over my white French dot coverlet and went with white sheets and pillowcases. And I gotta say, I am just so happy with it. It's a little quirky, but I like quirky. And, despite the elephants, it's a bit more sophisticated than the last way I had styled things. What do you think?
A little fem and a little fun? Serene but interesting? That's what I'm seeing. I'm looking forward to styling those bookshelves a little more, attacking the aforementioned hardware, and making a final decision on the hanging plant situation. If you look in the top right corner, you'll see an empty macrame planter, which I expected to love, but which feels a little busy, so I haven't potted a plant in there yet (or hung it from the ceiling - it's just hanging on my curtain rod for visualization purposes, so its placement would change a bit).
So, there's another bedroom update! And the good news is that April is a no-spend month, but those gold elephants made it in just under the wire. Phew! I'd love your thoughts, and I'll see you tomorrow!
