I’ll start off with patient blog readers, because I think I said this would be like a nightly journal for me and it’s been... longer than that. I talked last time about our November gratitude journals, and we’ve been pretty good! Above, you can pretty much see what the kids were grateful for last Saturday.
What. A. relief.
The Tuesday before, we were grateful for good friends who welcomed us into their awesome backyard for a covid-cautious election watching party. It was chilly but wonderful, and we dined on Thai food and these patriotic yummies:
I was grateful for a discount store still selling 4th of July mini m and ms — into my crispy rice treats you go, my little pretties. I ate a lot of those over the next few days. A lot. Friday found us once again at our friends, hoping for more certainty in the race’s outcome.
We didn’t get the certainty we were craving then, but Saturday found us on the streets.
Overjoyed.
And watching history. And feeling so, so grateful.
The next days have been a feeling of clarity and relief. I was thrilled with my election day treats, but we’re now feeling thankful for healthy snacks (still keeping with the patriotic theme as we navigate the transition). And soaking in the season, and taking care to name all the things we get joy from in the world.
Chief among them excellent puns, for which I am always a sucker.
